Reductant Temperature Sensor
The reluctant temperature sensor is a thermistor device in which resistance changes with temperature. The electrical resistance of a thermistor decreases as the temperature increases, and resistance increases as the temperature decreases. The varying resistance affects the voltage drop across the sensor terminals and provides electrical voltage signals to the PCM corresponding to temperature.
The reluctant temperature sensor provides feedback to the PCM, which controls the reluctant heaters to keep the reluctant in a liquid state during low ambient temperatures. The reluctant temperature sensor is integral to the reluctant pump assembly (F-650/F-750) or the reluctant heater and sender assembly (all others). For additional information on the reluctant temperature sensor, refer to the reluctant pump assembly (F-650/F-750) or the reluctant heater and sender assembly (all others) description in this article.
