Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: If the fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.

NOTE: The HCU and ABS module are serviced as an assembly.

If installing a new HCU/ ABS module, upload the ABS module configuration to the scan tool. REFER to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description

Remove the battery tray. REFER to: Battery Tray - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - Sigma Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS)

NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

  Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.

  Disconnect the 6 brake tube fittings.
  Torque
  
  : 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
1. 3.
  
  Remove the bolts and separate the HCU from the vehicle.
  Torque
  
  : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
