Seat Backrest - Front: Removal

NOTE: Driver side shown in illustration, passenger side similar.

  1. 1.

    Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat - Front .

  1. 2.

    Detach the J-clips and separate the carpet flap toe-kick from the cushion frame.

  1. 3.

    Remove the recliner cover.

    1. 1.

      Remove the recliner cover screw.

    1. 2.

      Remove the recliner cover scrivet.

    1. 3.

      Lift the hook and remove the recliner cover.

  1. 4.

    Separate the pin-type retainers and the backrest trim cover.

  1. 5.

    From the front of the seat, disengage the wire harness retainer and disconnect the seat control switch connectors.

  1. 6.

    Remove the seat cushion side shield from the seat cushion.

    1. 1.

      Remove the screw at the front of the cushion side shield.

    1. 2.

      Remove the pushpin and scrivet at the rear of the cushion side shield.

    1. 3.

      Disengage the cushion side shield retainers from the seat cushion.

  1. 7.

    Release the cushion trim cover from the back of the outboard recliner.

    NOTE: Driver side shown in illustration, passenger similar.

    Disconnect the seat backrest wiring and Active Motion® hoses (if equipped) from the under the seat cushion.

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the side air bag electrical connector and retainer.

    1. 2.

      Disconnect the seat backrest electrical connector and retainer.

    1. 3.

      Disconnect the Active Motion® hoses (if equipped), and route the wire harness(es) and hoses through the hole in the carpet flap toe-kick.

  1. 9.

    Remove the 4 recliner-to-seat track bolts in the order shown in illustration below and remove the backrest assembly.
