Pinpoint Test L : Easy Exit/Easy Entry Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly
NOTE:
Verify good battery condition before diagnosing the memory seat system. Poor battery condition may interfere with memory seat operation, even if vehicle starting is possible.
NOTE:
The transmission gear selector must be in PARK and either the key removed (without Intelligent Access) or the ignition OFF (with Intelligent Access) for the easy entry/exit feature to function.
NOTE:
If a new DSM is installed, the driver seat must be operated in all directions through the full range of travel to avoid a premature stopping point occurrence after the vehicle is returned to the customer.
NOTE:
Make sure all memory seat DTC and symptom based faults are corrected before proceeding with easy entry/exit diagnosis. Verify the PID(s) states agree with the ignition and transmission gear selector in all positions before proceeding with easy entry/exit diagnosis.
- L1 CHECK FOR EASY ENTRY FEATURE ENABLE AND DRIVER POWER SEAT OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Check the message center to verify the EASY ENTRY feature is enabled.
- Select the EASY ENTRY feature using the SETUP button.
- If enabled, ON should be displayed. If not, select ON using the RESET button.
- Using the seat control switch, verify the driver power seat operates fully forward and rearward.
Is the EASY ENTRY feature enabled and the seat operating horizontally using the seat control switch?
Yes RE-POSITION the seat at least 51 mm (2 in) from its rear stopping point and GO to L2. No If disabled, ENABLE the easy entry/exit feature. TEST the system for normal operation. If OK, INSTRUCT the customer on correct feature operation. If the seat does not move horizontally using the seat control switch, GO to Pinpoint Test K . - L2 CHECK THE DSM FOR DTCs
- Connect the scan tool.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - DSM.
Are any DSM DTCs retrieved during self-test?
Yes REFER to the Driver Seat Module (DSM) DTC Chart in DTC Charts . No GO to L3. - L3 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DataLogger/PCM PID: Transmission Range (TR).
- Monitor the PCM PID TR value with the transmission gear selector in PARK.
Does the PID state agree with the selected transmission gear PARK position?
Yes GO to L4. No To diagnose a transmission gear selector status concern, REFER to Automatic Transmission - 6F50/6F55 . - L4 CHECK THE DSM FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH POSITION (IGN_SW) PID STATES
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DataLogger/DSM PID: Ignition Switch (IGN_SW).
- Operate the ignition while monitoring the DSM IGN_SW PID states.
- For vehicles equipped with an ignition lock cylinder and key, insert and remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
- For vehicles equipped with passive entry/passive start, push the ignition button on and off.
Does the PID states agree?
Yes INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to Driver Seat Module (DSM) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. No To diagnose the key-in-ignition warning switch fault, REFER to Instrumentation, Message Center, and Warning Chimes .
