Pinpoint Test R : An Individual Button Or Feature Is Inoperative From The RKE Transmitter

  1. R1 VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION

    • Press the lock and unlock button on the door lock control switch while observing the door lock operation.

    Do the door locks operate? 

    Yes  GO to  R2.
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test I .
  2. R2 VERIFY THE HORN OPERATION

    • Using a scan tool, view the BCM PIDs.
    • Select the BCM horn PID (HORN) and active command the horn on then off.

    Does the horn sound when commanded on? 

    Yes  GO to  R3.
    No  REFER to Horn .
  3. R3 VERIFY THE HAZARD LAMP OPERATION

    • Activate the hazard flasher lamp function.

    Do the hazard lamps operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  R4.
    No  REFER to Exterior Lighting .
  4. R4 VERIFY THE POWER LIFTGATE OPERATION

    • Unlock the doors using the door lock control switch.
    • Press the power liftgate open/close button located on the instrument panel.

    Does the power liftgate open? 

    Yes  If equipped with the factory remote start, GO to  R5.If not equipped with the factory remote start, REPLACE the suspect IKT. PROGRAM the new IKT. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in Anti-Theft - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS), Without Intelligent Access (IA) . INFORM the customer that any IKTs not present need to be programmed.
    No  REFER to Body Closures .
  5. R5 VERIFY THE REMOTE START BUTTON INPUT

    • Using a scan tool, view the BCM PIDs.
    • Monitor the BCM LST_RKE_xMTR PID while pressing the remote start button on the suspect IKT.

    Does the PID indicate the remote start button is being pressed? 

    Yes  REFER to Starting System .
    No  REPLACE the suspect IKT. PROGRAM the new IKT. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in Anti-Theft - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS), Without Intelligent Access (IA) . INFORM the customer that any IKTs not present need to be programmed.
