Front Disc Brake: Removal

Vehicles with twin I-beam axle 

  1. The brake disc and wheel hub are an assembly on vehicles with twin I-beam axle. To remove the brake disc, refer to Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub -F250, F350 in FRONT SUSPENSION - REAR WHEEL DRIVE (RWD) .

    Vehicles with monobeam axle 

  2. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
  3. NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

    Relocate and support the component.

    • To install, on F-250, F-350, tighten to 225 Nm (166 lb-ft).
    • To install, on F-450, F-550, tighten to 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).

  4. NOTE: If equipped with DRW.

    Marker.

    • To install, tighten to 176 Nm (130 lb-ft).

  6. Visual check. Sandpaper. Clean the specified component with the specified material/cleaner.

  7. Apply the specified material/lubricant with a brush.
