Safety Belt System: Notes

All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision . Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
When installing a new safety belt retractor, do not remove the shipping clip until the D-ring is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
When installing new active restraint components, use only the replacement parts specified in the Ford Customer Service Division Master Parts and Accessories Catalog.
