Clutch System Bleeding: Bleeding

  1. Refer to: HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Refer to: BRAKE AND CLUTCH SYSTEMS HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that the brake fluid level does not drop below the MIN mark.

  4. Install the following items:
    • General Equipment  : Brake/Clutch System Pressure Bleeder/Filler

    1. If equipped.
    2. Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

  5. Remove the following items:
    • General Equipment  : Brake/Clutch System Pressure Bleeder/Filler

  6. If equipped.

  7. In order to remove any small amounts of trapped air remaining in the system, operate the clutch pedal 5 times, using the full clutch pedal travel.

  8. NOTE: Make sure that fluid level is to the MAX mark.

    Material  : Motorcraft® DOT 4 LV High Performance Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid/PM-20 (WSS-M6C65-A2) (ISO 4925 Class 6)

  9. Start the engine.
  10. Check the operation of the clutch. If reverse gear engagement is excessively noisy, operate the clutch pedal 5 times, using the full clutch pedal travel.

  11. After waiting approximately 30 sec., check the operation of the clutch again. If reverse gear engagement is still excessively noisy, repeat the bleeding procedure.
