Fuel Tank Draining

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in SERVICE INFORMATION General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  1. Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions  ( GASOLINE AND GASOLINE-ETHANOL FUEL SYSTEMS HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ).
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .

  3. NOTE: The supplement refueling adapter is located in the luggage compartment.

  4. Install the supplemental refueling adapter and a length of semi-rigid fuel drain tube into the Easy Fuel (capless) fuel tank filler pipe.
  5. Attach the Fuel Tanker to the fuel drain tube and drain as much fuel as possible from the fuel tank filler pipe.
  6. NOTE: Some residual fuel may remain in the fuel tank filler pipe. Carefully drain into a suitable container.

  7. Release the clamp and remove the fuel tank filler pipe hose from the fuel tank.
  8. Insert the fuel drain tube into the fuel tank inlet spout, attach the Fuel Storage Tanker and drain as much fuel as possible from the fuel tank.
