Pinpoint Test P: DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3003:17

  1. P1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) B1317, B1676, P0563 (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)), U3003:17 OR U3006:17 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.

    Is DTC B1317, B1676, U3003:17, U3006:17 or P0563 (PCM) set in more than one module? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: DIRECT CURRENT/DIRECT CURRENT (DC/DC) CONVERTER CONTROL MODULE
    2. No  : GO to P2 
  2. P2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    • Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
    • Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 RPM for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.

    Does the battery voltage rise to 15.9 volts or higher? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: DIRECT CURRENT/DIRECT CURRENT (DC/DC) CONVERTER CONTROL MODULE
    2. No  : GO to P3 
  3. P3 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3003:17 
    • Turn the engine off.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the self-test.
    • Clear the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Carry out the BCM  self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:17 still present? 

    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new BCM  .

      REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) 

    2. No  : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC  may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
