Removal and Installation

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this information, refer to SAFETY WARNINGS in SERVICE INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
    1. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
    2. Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
    3. Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

    1. NOTE: If equipped with a sliding cover is over the locking tab, slide the cover back to gain access to the tab

      Depress Locking tab on the ignition coil harness connector, and remove connector from coil.

  1. NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from the ignition coil-on-plugs and surrounding area before removing the ignition coil-on-plugs.
    NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
    NOTE: When installing, apply a small amount of silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before installation.
    1. Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
    2. Material: Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A).

  2. Visual check. Inspect the ignition coil-on-plug rubber boot for cracks, rips, or tears. Replace any damaged coil-on-plug rubber boots.

  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
