Removal And Installation: Muffler: Removal
NOTE:
Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration of the rubber.
NOTE:
Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.
NOTE:
Discard the ball clamp after removal.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Loosen the ball clamp and separate the intermediate pipe from the muffler inlet.
- Release the muffler assembly rear isolator and slide the muffler assembly 2 hooks out of the front isolator.
- Remove the muffler assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the ball clamp.
NOTE:
Lubricate the muffler assembly isolators with soapy water to ease in removal.
