Removal and Installation

NOTE:
Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column may result.
- Remove the ignition switch. For additional information, refer to IGNITION SWITCH .
- Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

NOTE: Clean all metal shavings and foreign material after cutting slots in the steering column lock module bolts.
Cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering column lock module bolts.
- Remove the 2 steering column lock module bolts.
- Discard the bolts.
- Remove the steering column lock module clamp.
- Remove the steering column lock module.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Align the ribs on the steering column lock module with the window of the steering column tube.
- Align the locating pin with the slot on the locating bracket of the steering column.
- Tighten the 2 new bolts until the heads of the bolts shear off.
