Removal and Installation

NOTE: Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column may result.
  1. Remove the ignition switch. For additional information, refer to IGNITION SWITCH .
  2. Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  3. NOTE: Clean all metal shavings and foreign material after cutting slots in the steering column lock module bolts.

    Cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering column lock module bolts.

  4. Remove the 2 steering column lock module bolts.
    • Discard the bolts.
  5. Remove the steering column lock module clamp.
  6. Remove the steering column lock module.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Align the ribs on the steering column lock module with the window of the steering column tube.
    • Align the locating pin with the slot on the locating bracket of the steering column.
    • Tighten the 2 new bolts until the heads of the bolts shear off.
