Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE SPEAKER CONNECTOR FOR CORRECT LATCHING
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Inspect the parking aid speaker connector for correct latching by pulling on the latched connector.
    • Is the connector latched? 
    • Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
    • No:  Correctly LATCH the connector.
  2. MEASURE THE PARKING AID SPEAKER RESISTANCE
    1. Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker.
    2. Measure:

    • Is the resistance between 40 and 60 ohms? 
    • Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1B52:14, GO to 3  on page 2.

      For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1B52:12, GO to  6 on page 4.

    • No:  INSTALL a new parking aid speaker. REFER to Parking Aid Speaker .
  3. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Disconnect: Parking Aid Module (PAM).
    2. Measure:

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to 4  on page 3.
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  4. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    • Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to 5  on page 4.
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  5. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO EACH OTHER
    1. Measure:

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to  7 on page 5.
    • No:  REPAIR the circuits.
  6. CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker.
    2. Disconnect: Parking Aid Module (PAM).
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Measure:

    • Is any voltage present? 
    • Yes:  REPAIR the circuit in question.
    • No:  GO to 7  on page 5.
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT Parking Aid Module (PAM) OPERATION
  1. Disconnect and inspect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connector.
  2. Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
  3. Reconnect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
