Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Parking Aid Module (PAM) SELF-TEST
    1. Check the Parking Aid Module (PAM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.
    • Are parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than B1B44:96, B1B46:96, B1B48:96 and B1B50:96 recorded? 
  2. CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR OPERATION
    NOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid system.
    1. Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.
    2. Carry out the azimuth system check. REFER to Azimuth System Check .
    3. Carry out the elevation system check. REFER to Elevation System Check .
    • Does the parking aid system pass both system checks? 
    • Yes:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty or blocked parking aid sensor.
    • No:  GO to 3  on page 2.
  3. CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR
    1. Install a new parking aid sensor for the sensor in question. REFER to Parking Aid Sensor .
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test.
    4. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes:  GO to 4  on page 2.
    • No:  The cause of the concern was the parking aid sensor. The system is now operating correctly.
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT Parking Aid Module (PAM) OPERATION
  1. Disconnect and inspect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connector.
  2. Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
  3. Reconnect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
