Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK FOR Head Up Display (HUD) MODULE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
    1. Turn the engine off.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Using a scan tool, clear the Head Up Display (HUD) module continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    4. Carry out the Head Up Display (HUD) module self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U210A:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U210A:17 present? 
      • Yes:  GO to step 2 .
      • No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set previously due to an internal intermittent fault with the temperature sensor circuit.
  2. CHECK FOR CORRECT Head Up Display (HUD) MODULE OPERATION
    1. Disconnect the Head Up Display (HUD) module connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the Head Up Display (HUD) module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
      • Is the concern still present? 
      • Yes:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Head Up Display (HUD) module. REFER to HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) MODULE .
      • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
