Main Control Valve Body: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the transmission fluid pan drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.
    • Discard the transmission fluid pan drain plug gasket.

  3. NOTE: Clean the area around the solenoid body connector to prevent contamination.

  4. Disconnect the transmission vehicle harness connector.
  5. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connectors and retaining clip from the RH transmission fluid pan rail and then position the connectors aside.

  6. Remove the HO2S  connector from the front of the transmission fluid pan rail.

  7. NOTE: The transmission fluid pan gasket is reusable. Clean and inspect the gasket for damage. If not damaged, the transmission fluid pan gasket should be reused.

  8. Remove the transmission fluid pan and transmission fluid pan gasket.
  9. Remove the transmission fluid filter.

  10. Remove the 4 screws attaching the reverse servo to the transmission case and remove the servo.

  11. NOTE: Do not damage the transmission control solenoid body connector pins.

  12. Remove the transmission control solenoid body screws and remove the transmission control solenoid body by lifting on the body and pushing the connector from the other side of the case.
  13. Remove the manual valve detent spring.

  14. Remove the main control valve body screws and the lower main control valve body assembly.
