Exhaust System: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Ford Focus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The exhaust system consists of:
Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV)
- a one-piece catalytic converter manifold.
- an exhaust flexible pipe.
- a resonator.
- a muffler and tailpipe assembly with isolators bolted to the body.
Non-Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV)
- a one-piece catalytic converter manifold with exhaust flexible pipe.
- a resonator.
- a muffler and tailpipe assembly with isolators bolted to the body.
NOTE:
The production muffler and tailpipe assembly is one-piece construction. The service muffler and tailpipe is 3-piece construction for PZEV
and 2-piece construction for non- PZEV
.
The exhaust system provides an exit for exhaust gases and reduces engine noise by passing exhaust gases through the catalytic converter, a muffler assembly and resonator. Rubber exhaust hanger isolators attach the exhaust system to the mounting hooks.
