Exhaust System: Notes

The exhaust system:

• contains a 1-piece catalytic converter assembly.
• has one muffler assembly.
• has one resonator assembly.
• has muffler brackets with isolators bolted to the body.
• has an exhaust Y-pipe (3.0L).
• has 2 heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) and 2 catalyst monitor sensors (3.0L).
• has an HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor mounted to the catalytic converter manifold (2.3L).
• has a production muffler and tailpipe assembly that is a 2-piece design exhaust system.

The exhaust system provides an exit for exhaust gases and reduces engine noise by passing exhaust gases through the catalytic converters, a muffler assembly and resonator. Rubber exhaust hanger insulators attach the exhaust system to the mounting hooks.
