Electronic Compass: Notes

The compass display and module are contained in the overhead console and are replaced as an assembly. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE article. The compass display can be turned off and on by pressing the MODE button in the overhead console with the key in the ON position. The vehicle heading is displayed as a 1 or 2 character display and indicates the current direction of the vehicle (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or NW). The compass continuously recalibrates due to changes in the magnetic field and remains accurate during most driving conditions.
