ABS with Traction Control and Roll Stability Control (RSC)
The ABS with traction control and roll stability control (RSC) consists of the same components as the standard ABS with the following additional components:
- Active brake booster
- Active brake booster solenoid (integral to the brake booster)
- Brake booster release switch (integral to the brake booster)
- Steering wheel position sensor
- Brake pressure transducer (integral to the HCU)
- Brake pedal travel sensor (integral to the brake booster)
- Stability/traction control deactivation switch
- Stability control sensor cluster that contains the following sensors:
- Lateral accelerometer
- Longitudinal accelerometer
- Roll rate sensor
- Yaw rate sensor
In addition to performing the same operations as the standard ABS, ABS with traction control and RSC performs the following additional operations. The traction control system utilizes the same components as the ABS to prevent wheel spin and help maintain vehicle control during acceleration. The RSC system also utilizes the same components as the ABS and also monitors the steering wheel rotation sensor and the stability control sensor cluster to assist in stabilizing the vehicle during abrupt maneuvers.
For removal and installation of the active brake booster, refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION article.
