Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1184: Testing

  1. G1 CHECK THE ABS MODULE FOR DTCs 
    NOTE: Repair all other DTCs before proceeding.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Retrieve and record the ABS module DTCs.
    • Is DTC C1184 retrieved? 
    1. YES  : Go to  G2.
    2. NO  : CLEAR the DTCs. DRIVE the vehicle over a rough road. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. G2 CHECK FOR WHEEL SPEED SENSORS RING DAMAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Remove the wheel speed sensors.
      CAUTION: Examine the wheel speed sensor wire carefully with a good light. Failure to verify damage in the wheel speed sensor wire at this time will lead to unnecessary component replacement and diagnostic time.
    • Inspect the wheel speed sensor rings for damaged or missing teeth. Rotate the wheel speed sensor rings to verify that all the teeth are checked.
    • Are the wheel speed sensor rings damaged or missing teeth? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new wheel speed sensor ring. REFER to Wheel Speed Sensor Ring - Front  or Wheel Speed Sensor Ring - Rear . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : CLEAR the DTCs. DRIVE the vehicle over rough pavement. REPEAT the self-test.
