Oil Pan: Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to BATTERY MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Detach the 2 positive battery cable pin-type retainers and position aside.
- Detach the transmission connector wire harness pin-type retainer and position aside.
- Remove the 2 nuts and position the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and catalyst monitor sensor wire connector bracket aside.
- Loosen the upper bellhousing-to-engine bolt and stud bolt 5 mm (0.19 in).
- Remove the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE in this article.
- Loosen the 3 (manual transmission) or 2 (automatic transmission) front lower bellhousing-to-engine bolts 5 mm (0.19 in).
- Loosen the rear lower engine-to-bellhousing bolt and stud bolt 5 mm (0.19 in).
- Remove the 2 bellhousing-to-oil pan bolts.
- Remove the 2 oil pan-to-bellhousing bolts.
- Slide the transmission rearward 5 mm (0.19 in).
- Remove the 2 bolts and the accessory drive belt splash shield.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Install the drain plug.
- Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
- Remove the 4 engine front cover-to-oil pan bolts.
- Remove the 13 bolts and the oil pan.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the transmission, do not loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts more than 5 mm (0.19 in).
