Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Place the range selector lever in the D5 position.
  3. Disconnect the transmission shift cable eyelet from the selector lever assembly.

  4. Disconnect the shift cable from the bracket.

  5. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the exhaust.
  6. Remove the screws that retain the heat shield and lower the heat shield onto the exhaust.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  7. Disconnect the transmission shift cable retainer.

  8. Remove the transmission shift cable.
    1. Disconnect the transmission cable eyelet from the manual control lever.
    2. Depress the tab and slide the transmission shift cable out of the shift cable bracket.
    3. Remove the transmission shift cable.

  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  10. After installing the shift cable, it will be necessary to adjust the shift cable. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT  in this article.
