Brake Caliper Bleeding

NOTE: It is not necessary to bleed the entire brake system. It is possible to bleed only the opened part of the system.
  1. Connect one end of a clear flexible hose to the caliper screw. Submerge the other end in a container partially filled with the specified brake fluid.
  2. Have an assistant pump and then hold firm pressure on the brake pedal.
  3. Open the brake caliper bleeder screw until brake fluid flows into the container.
  4. When fluid stops flowing, close the bleeder screw.
    • For front brake calipers, tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb-ft)
    • For rear brake calipers, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft)
  5. Repeat the previous 3 steps until there are no air bubbles in the brake fluid.
