Removal and Installation

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  3. Remove the generator brace bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  4. Remove the 2 A/C compressor mounting bracket brace bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  5. NOTE: Clearance between the engine and vehicle frame is limited.
  6. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket brace, 2 long bolts and generator mounting bracket from the engine as an assembly.
    • To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  7. Disconnect the oil pressure sender electrical connector.
  8. Remove the oil pressure sender.
    • To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
