Cylinder Head - LH: Installation
- Install the new cylinder head gasket and the LH cylinder head.
- Install the new bolts. Make sure the bolts are installed in the correct locations.
- Install the 4 new long bolts.
- Install the 4 new short bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in illustration in 3 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 20 Nm (14 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 40 Nm (29 lb-ft).
- Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (36 lb-ft).
- Carry out the following final tightening process on each bolt in the sequence shown in illustration.
- Long bolts:
- Loosen the long bolt and back out 3 turns.
- Tighten the long bolt to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Tighten the long bolt an additional 180 degrees.
- Go to the next bolt in sequence.
- Short bolts:
- Loosen the short bolt and back out 3 turns.
- Tighten the short bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Tighten the short bolt an additional 180 degrees.
- Go to the next bolt in sequence.
- Long bolts:
- Install the LH exhaust manifold lower studs.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Install the engine roll restrictor bolt.
- Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
- Connect the CHT sensor electrical connector.
- Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket brace, 2 long bolts and generator mounting bracket to the engine as an assembly.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Install the 2 A/C compressor mounting bracket brace bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Install the generator brace bolt.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Install the accessory drive belt idler pulley. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
- Install the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
- Install the push rods from the LH cylinder head. For additional information, refer to PUSH ROD .
- Install the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
- Install the LH exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD - LH .
- Drain the engine oil.
- Tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).
- Install a new oil filter.
- Tighten oil filter one half turn after the gasket makes contact with the oil filter housing.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
CAUTION:
Always use new bolts.
NOTE:
Lubricate the bolts with clean engine oil prior to installation.
CAUTION:
Each bolt must be loosened and the final tightening carried out prior to working on the next bolt in the sequence. Do not loosen all of the bolts at one time.
NOTE:
Lubricate the new oil filter seal with clean engine oil prior to installation.
