Item 10: Spring Removal Note
- Support the rear axle with a jack stand.
- Remove and discard the two brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position the rake caliper and anchor plate assembly aside.
- Remove the spring from the vehicle while slowly lowering the axle using the jack stand.
CAUTION:
The rear axle assembly must be supported to prevent damage to the vehicle. The rear axle U-channel must fit completely into the saddle of the jack stand to prevent damage to the rear axle.
CAUTION:
When removing the brake caliper, never allow it to hang from the brake caliper flexible hose. Provide a suitable support.
CAUTION:
Care must be taken when servicing rear brake components without disconnecting the parking brake cable from the brake caliper lever. Carefully position the caliper aside using a suitable support or damage to the parking brake cable end fittings can occur.
NOTE:
The spring insulators may come out with the spring when the spring is removed.
