Item 10: Spring Removal Note

    CAUTION: The rear axle assembly must be supported to prevent damage to the vehicle. The rear axle U-channel must fit completely into the saddle of the jack stand to prevent damage to the rear axle.

  1. Support the rear axle with a jack stand.
  2. CAUTION: When removing the brake caliper, never allow it to hang from the brake caliper flexible hose. Provide a suitable support.
    CAUTION: Care must be taken when servicing rear brake components without disconnecting the parking brake cable from the brake caliper lever. Carefully position the caliper aside using a suitable support or damage to the parking brake cable end fittings can occur.

  3. Remove and discard the two brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position the rake caliper and anchor plate assembly aside.
  4. NOTE: The spring insulators may come out with the spring when the spring is removed.
  5. Remove the spring from the vehicle while slowly lowering the axle using the jack stand.
