Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the stabilizer bar. For additional information, refer to STABILIZER BAR .
  2. CAUTION: The axle must be supported throughout the procedure to prevent strain on the front brake hose.
  3. Using a suitable jack, support the front axle.
  4. Loosen the shock absorber upper nut.
    • Loosen the nut to the top of the threads.

  5. Remove the front spring upper retainer bolt and the upper spring retainer.

  6. NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the radius arm-to-axle nut to remove the spring.
  7. Lower the jack supporting the front axle, then remove the front coil spring from the lower retainer.
    • Using a suitable spray lubricant, spray the lower spring and spring retainer. Rotate the spring 180 degrees counterclockwise, tilt the spring outward and remove.

  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
