CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR .
- Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. For additional information, refer to CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR .
- Remove the coolant pump. For additional information, refer to WATER PUMP .
- Remove the camshaft synchronizer. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR .
- Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations.
To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps:

- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Drain the engine oil and refill with clean engine oil.
