Removal And Installation: Pump-ZETEC: Installation

    NOTE: Install a new teflon seal 388898-S on the power steering pressure hose fittings before connecting the hoses.
    NOTE: Make sure that the threads are clean and free of debris before connecting the hoses.

  1. Position the power steering pump (3A674) and install the four bolts.
    • Install a new power steering pump heat shield.
  2. Position the power steering hose in the vehicle.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

  5. Position the engine block ground bracket and install the bolts.

  6. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.

  7. Connect the power steering pressure hoses together.

  8. Raise and support the vehicle; refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
  9. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

  10. Turn the tensioner bolt clockwise and position the accessory drive belt.

  11. Position the RH lower splash shield and install the bolts.

  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Install the power steering pressure hose brackets.
    1. Position the power steering pressure hose brackets.
    2. Install the bolts.

  14. Position the A/C hose bracket and install the bolt.

  15. Position the speed control actuator cable into the A/C hose bracket.

  16. Position the A/C hose clamp and install the bolt.

  17. Connect the radiator overflow tube.

  18. NOTE: When the battery (10655) is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
  19. Connect the battery ground cable.
