Removal & Installation

Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain fuel from fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING . Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect filler tube and vent hose from fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel pump connector. Disconnect fuel lines and the vapor tube fitting. See Fig 1. Remove the center fuel tank strap bolt and remove the support strap. Support fuel tank using suitable jack. Remove fuel tank support strap bolts. See Fig 2. Partially lower the fuel tank while swinging the fuel tank support straps away from the fuel tank. Remove the straps and lower the fuel tank. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
