Inner CV Joint: Reassembly

  1. Lubricate the tripod bearing and the inboard joint housing with Ford High Temperature Constant Velocity Joint Grease (E43Z-19590-A) or equivalent. See Fig 1 . Install the CV joint boot onto the axle shaft and remove the tape wrap. See Figure .
  2. Install the tripod bearing onto the axle shaft. Make sure the alignment marks match up. See Figure . Install the tripod bearing snap ring. See Figure . Install the inboard joint housing onto the tripod bearing.
  3. Position the inboard axle shaft joint boot onto the inboard joint housing. Remove any excess air trapped in the CV joint boot using a cloth covered screwdriver, after adjusting the axle shaft joint boot spacing. See Figure .
  4. Use Boot Clamp Pliers to install 2 NEW axle shaft joint boot clamps. Install a NEW axle shaft bearing retainer circlip onto the outboard axle shaft joint. See Figure .
