Steering Gear Bushing/Preload

  1. Raise and support the vehicle so the wheels are just above the ground; for additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .

  2. Check for looseness (clatter) in the steering gear by moving it up, down, fore and aft.
  3. If the steering gear is excessively loose, replace the steering gear; for additional information, refer to GEAR in POWER STEERING article.
