Transmission Range (Tr) Sensor - Adjustment

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS .
  3. Remove the (A) shift cable and bracket nut and the (B) control cable front clamp.

  4. Rotate the manual control lever to the neutral position.

  5. Loosen the TR sensor bolts.

  6. Disconnect the TR sensor electrical connector.

  7. Connect an ohmmeter between (A) terminal F and (B) terminal I.

  8. Adjust the TR sensor to the point where there is continuity between the terminals by rotating the TR sensor housing on the manual control lever.

  9. Tighten the two TR sensor bolts while holding the TR sensor in place.

  10. Install the shift cable and bracket nut.

  11. Install the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS .
  12. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.

  13. Connect the battery ground cable.
