Valve Spring, Retainer and Seal: Removal

- Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER .
- Pressurize the cylinder using compressed air.
- Using the special tool, remove the key, retainer and the valve spring.
- NOTE: Camshaft removed for clarity. Remove the valve seal.
NOTE:
If air pressure has forced the piston to the bottom of the cylinder, any loss of air pressure will allow the valve(s) to fall into the cylinder. A rubber band, tape or string wrapped around the end of the valve stem will prevent this from happening.
