Sliding Door Window Glass: Removal
WARNING:
To prevent glass splinters from entering eyes or cutting hands, wear safety glasses and heavy gloves when cutting glass from the vehicle.
NOTE:
The four door version is shown, the three door version RH sliding door glass is similar.
- Remove the sliding door trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.
- Using the special tool, cut adhesive from the sliding door window glass.
- Using the special tool, distance the sliding door glass from the sliding door and discard the glass.
- Remove the locator pins from the door skin and discard the pins.
- Rock the pins back and forth applying pressure to remove the pins.
- Rotate the pin 90 degrees left or right and remove the pin.
- Using a suitable tool, cut the head off the pin and retrieve it from the bottom of the door.
- Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt and foreign material from the pinch weld.
CAUTION:
Care must be taken to avoid scratching the pinch weld.
NOTE:
Lubricate the existing adhesive with water to aid the special tool while cutting.

Use care to avoid damage to the glass.
NOTE:
There are four locator pins on the sliding door window glass that hold the glass in place during assembly.
NOTE:
As assistant may be required to avoid damaging the door when the door glass comes loose.
