Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Before performing any fuel system related procedure, read and follow fuel system safety precautions. See FUEL SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
WARNING: Always relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
  1. Remove fuel filler cap to release fuel tank pressure. Remove relief valve (Schrader valve) cap. Relief valve is located on fuel supply manifold. Using Fuel Pressure Gauge (T80L-9974-B), release fuel pressure from relief valve.
  2. If fuel pressure gauge is not available, disconnect electrical connector to Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch. IFS switch is located in lower left rear of trunk. Crank engine for 15 seconds to reduce system pressure. Turn ignition off. Reconnect IFS switch connector.
