Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect both battery ground cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the radiator. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  3. Remove the condenser. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING .
  4. Remove the serpentine drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  5. Remove the turbocharger exhaust clamp.

  6. Remove the resonator. For additional information, refer to AIR INTAKE RESONATOR .
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector and the engine wiring harness from the bracket.

  8. Remove the nuts and the engine wiring harness bracket.

  9. Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission fluid indicator tube.

  10. Remove the oil fill tube bolt.

  11. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  12. Remove the bell housing bolt and position the transmission fluid indicator tube aside.

  13. Raise and support the vehicle.
  14. Remove the bolt securing the fuel tubes.

  15. Remove the nut and the cable bracket. Remove the stud bolt, bolt and the transmission tube bracket.

  16. Install the mounting brackets.
  17. Remove the mounting nuts.

  18. Loosen the retaining bolts.

  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Install the Diesel Engine Lifting Attachment and Heavy Duty Floor Crane.

    21. CAUTION: Make sure the turbocharger does not contact the cowl.
  21. Raise the engine until the studs clear the crossmember.
  22. Remove the bolts and the engine insulators.

  23. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
