Zero Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS)

Ensure front passenger seat is empty. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See USING SCAN TOOL  . Use scan tool to trigger active command and zero OCS. If scan tool is not available, zeroing will occur during normal driving conditions. Perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .

DIAGNOSTIC SYMPTOMS

AIR BAG warning light on continuously TEST A 
AIR BAG warning light flashing (1)
Audible tone/DTCs retrieved (1)
No communication with RCM TEST Y

(1) Replace Restraints Control Module (RCM) and crash sensors. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
(2) Light continuous. Ensure battery voltage is less than 16 volts.
(3) Light continuous. Ensure battery voltage is more than 9 volts.
(4) If DTC B1342 and B2296 are active, go to TEST K: RESTRAINT SYSTEM-CRASH SENSOR STATUS (DTC B2296)  . If DTC B1342 is active, replace RCM.
(5) No light. Tone will sound only if additional DTCs are present.
(6) Check part numbers of RCM and right front seat cushion. If a part numbers do not match, replace incorrect part with NEW part. If part numbers match, replace RCM.
