Control Valve Body: Installation
NOTE:
Inspect the solenoid valve body harness connector "O" ring seal for damage. Install a new "O" ring seal, if damaged, before installing the connector into the case.
- Install the manual control valve. Push the solenoid valve body harness connector into the case. See Figure .
- Connect the manual valve link to the main control valve body. See Figure . Install the main control valve body and tighten the bolts in sequence as indicated. See Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Loosen the nut on the ball stud for the manual valve detent lever actuating rod assembly. Install the manual control lever. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install and rotate the manual valve detent lever assembly to the Neutral position; past Low 1, Low 2 and Drive.
- Install a NEW gasket on the main control cover. Install the main control cover, and tighten the bolts in sequence as shown. See Fig 1 . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the splash shield. Install the LH front wheel. Lower the vehicle. Install the shift cable and bracket. See Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the shift cable.
- Install the vent tube hose to the fitting on the main control cover. Connect the transaxle harness connector, and the TR sensor connector. See Figure .
- Install the intake tube and air cleaner cover. Connect the breather tube and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Install the battery tray and battery.
- Connect the battery cables. Check the transmission fluid, add fluid as necessary using appropriate ATF. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL under LUBRICATION.
- Start the engine and move the transaxle range selector lever through all gear positions. Refill as necessary.
NOTE:
Before installing the vent tube hose, clean out any obstructions in the hose using low air pressure.
NOTE:
Before installing the battery tray check the vent tube hose for any obstructions, kinks, or incorrect routing position.
NOTE:
When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 100 miles (160 km) or more to relearn the strategy.
