HVAC Systems: Description
WARNING:
Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior and exterior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
Heater system is a blend-air design, receiving outside air through an air inlet duct connected to upper cowl. Air is directed through and/or around heater core, mixed, and discharged through outlets to floor, instrument panel and/or defrost nozzles.
The blower motor pulls air from inlet duct and forces it into heater core housing where it is mixed and distributed. Blower motor has 4 speeds It is controlled by a blower motor switch and blower motor resistor assembly.
Heater system uses cable and vacuum actuation to control temperature, airflow and air source (recirculated air or fresh air). Control switches are located in Integrated Control Panel (ICP).
