Clutch Controls

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The clutch control system consists of the following components:

Fig 1: Identifying Clutch Controls

Item Part Number Description
1 7K500 Clutch reservoir
2 7A543 Clutch master cylinder
3 11A152 Clutch pedal position (CPP) switch
4 7A508 Clutch slave cylinder

The clutch control system engages and disengages the clutch system. The clutch control system disengages the clutch system when the clutch pedal is depressed and engages the clutch system when the clutch pedal is released. When the clutch pedal is depressed, it pushes the clutch master cylinder plunger, developing hydraulic pressure, and applies the clutch slave cylinder which engages the clutch release bearing. The clutch release bearing compresses the clutch pressure plate diaphragm spring, releasing the pressure on the clutch disc which in turn disengages the transmission from the engine.

The hydraulic clutch system adjusts automatically to compensate for clutch disc wear. Clutch linkage is not adjustable.
