Self-Diagnostic System: Self-Diagnostics
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES
article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE:
To avoid setting false codes, disconnect battery power and ground before disconnecting Generic Electronic Module (GEM) harness connectors.
The remote keyless entry system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved using scan tool and Data Link Connector (DLC) for diagnosis of system. Before performing any testing, a preliminary procedure should be performed. See PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE .
