Section 610 (Engine): Installation: Engine: Installation

- Using the special tool, install the engine assembly in the vehicle.
- Remove the special tools.
- Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
- Install the four bolts and one stud.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the LH heated oxygen sensor.
- Connect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
- Install the engine insulator mount nuts.
- Install the four torque converter nuts.
- Rotate the crankshaft to access the nuts.
- Install the rubber access plug.
- Install the inspection cover and the bolts.
- Install the starter motor and the bolts.
- Connect the starter electrical connections and install the nuts.
- Install the solenoid terminal cover.
- Position the exhaust, install the four nuts and remove the support.
- Install the power steering pump and the bolts.
- Install the A/C compressor and the bolts.
- Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Connect the engine wiring harness retainers to the A/C compressor.
- Connect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Position the transmission oil cooler tubes and install the bolt.
- Install the transmission cooler tube support bracket.
- Install the power steering line bracket.
- Connect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
- Connect the power steering electrical connector.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the bolts.
- Install the cooling fan. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Connect the lower radiator hose.
- Connect the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection.
- Install the power steering reservoir.
- Connect the engine bulkhead connectors.
- Position the ground strap and install the bolt.
- Connect the heater water hoses.
- Connect the A/C low charge protection switch electrical connector.
- Connect the A/C electrical connector.
- Connect the power distribution power supply electrical connector.
- Install the electrical connection cover.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the ground strap.
- Connect the fuel line spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Install the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable to the clips.
- Connect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable.
- Install the bolts.
- Connect the cables.
- Position the canister purge valve bracket and install the nut.
- Connect the three hoses and the canister purge valve electrical connection.
- Connect the vacuum hose.
- Install the air cleaner and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
- Install the LH cowl extension and connect the electrical connector.
- Install the RH cowl extension.
- Install the extension.
- Install the pin-type retainers.
- Install the nuts and the bolts.
- Install the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft. For additional information, refer to WIPERS AND WASHERS .
- Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
- Connect both battery cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Install the hood.
NOTE:
When vehicle is raised, verify that the torque converter is correctly seated.
NOTE:
Do not reuse hose clamps. Use appropriately sized worm-style clamps in place of the constant tension clamps.
