Retrieving & Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: It is also possible to retrieve instrument cluster DTCs using instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.

Connect Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester, New Generation Star (NGS) tester or equivalent diagnostic tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. DLC is located under instrument panel between steering column and the radio. See Figure. Following scan tool manufacturer's instructions to retrieve and clear codes for desired module. See appropriate DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS , for a listing of DTCs and location of appropriate test procedure.
