Transmission Case: Disassembly

  1. Remove the oil troughs.

  2. Remove the input shaft bearing cup and countershaft front bearing cup.
      NOTE: New bearings and cups must be installed as a set.
    • Inspect the bearing cups for wear or damage. Install a new cup as necessary.
    • If a new bearing was installed on the input shaft or on the countershaft, install a new cup.

  3. Remove and discard the input shaft oil seal.

  4. Remove the case plug and discard the seal.

  5. NOTE: Use care when cleaning the mating surfaces. Nicks and gouges can prevent sealing and cause leaks.
  6. Clean the mating surface of the case.
