Diagnostic System Check

- Did you review DESCRIPTION & OPERATION? If so, go to next step. If not, go to DESCRIPTION & OPERATION .
- Install a scan tool. Does the scan tool power up? If so, go to next step. If not, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with the ECM. Does the scan tool communicate with the ECM? If so, go to next step. If not, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Select the ECM DISPLAY DTCs function on the scan tool. Does the scan tool display any DTCs? If so, go to next step. If not, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "U"? If so, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If not, go to next step.
- Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "P" that are associated with the HVAC system? If so, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
