The rear window defogger system is comprised of a series of grid filaments (baked onto the inside surface of rear window glass), rear defogger switch, defogger relay, Generic Electronic Module (GEM), heater control module, and related wiring. System power is supplied through Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse F7 (40-amp). Power to defogger relay coil and heater control module is provided by Central Junction Box (CJB) fuse F45 (7.5-amp).

When activated, the rear window defogger clears window of thin ice and fog. The rear window defogger is activated by pressing the rear defogger switch, located on instrument panel, with ignition switch in the ON or ACC position. The system will operate for 8-12 minutes before turning off automatically. The system can be turned off manually by pressing rear defogger switch a second time or by turning ignition switch to OFF position.
