MULTIFUNCTION Switch

Disconnect multifunction switch 10-pin harness connector C441 (remove wiper switch if necessary). Check continuity between wiper switch terminals with switch in specified position. See WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. See Figure. If continuity is not as specified, replace wiper switch. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH CONTINUITY

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals No.
Front Wiper
Off 7 & 9
Single Wipe 6 & 9
Normal 6 & 9
High 6 & 8
Intermittent (1) 6 & 10; 7 & 9
Rheostat Variable (1) 1 & 10
Rear Wiper
Off 3 & 5; 4 & 6
On 4 & 6; 5 & 6
Washer
Off 2 & 6
Front 2 & 3
Rear 3 & 4; 5 & 6
(1) Resistance between terminals No. 1 and 10 should be one k/ohm at detent one, 10 k/ohm at detent 2, 20 k/ohm at detent 3, 30 k/ohm at detent 4, 40 k/ohm at detent 5, 47 k/ohm at detent 6.
